Ling Koay – Product Marketing Manager

Who are you and what is your personal motto?

My name is Ling, I grew up in Kuala Lumpur and during the past 15 years I have lived in Melbourne, Örebro, Uppsala, Helsingborg and now Stockholm. Growing up my mom and dad would tell us “Be happy always no matter what you do. If you have to, get a job you love and you’ll never work a day.” That has served me really well.

What do you do at Edgeware?

My main goal as Product Marketing Manager at Edgeware is to understand the market and buyer needs, so that I can work out strategies using my understanding to enable marketing and sales for generating opportunities and therefore closed deals. It is also my goal to ensure that we are putting out the right messages and especially thought leadership content in order to influence the market so that demand will be aligned with long-term product strategy.

Why did you start working for Edgeware?

To be honest, I accepted the job because of the people. The three people I met during the interview process are super smart, experienced, and possess deep knowledge in the industry, I know I can learn so much from these guys. I enjoy being surrounded by people who are smarter than me because it keeps me motivated to do better. The other part that attracted me is the industry itself. It is still young and evolving, there is so much new happening every day. It means many novel opportunities and challenges for the company and myself to take on (without having to worry about cleaning up someone else’s dirty laundry first).

What do you enjoy the most with your job?

I really appreciate the freedom and flexibility Edgeware provides to all of us. As long as I do my job, I can work remotely, late at night, or wherever and whenever I feel inspired outside regular office hours.
